O Prémio MOTELx de Melhor Curta-Metragem de Terror Portuguesa foi ontem atribuído ao filme "Erva Daninha", realizado e fotografado pelo membro da AIP Guilherme Daniel. O Júri composto por Howard David Ingham, Raquel Freire e Samuel Úria justificou a escolha da seguinte forma: “The film we chose as the winner surprised us more than any of the others. It has a sustained sense of dread, and was the only film in a strong competition that truly communicated the uncanny. All three of us found ourselves fascinated and disturbed by this film from the very beginning. The two leads gave tremendous, sensitive performances with very little dialogue to work with. The visual presentation and sound design work together to provide a sense of realness and earthiness and a very strong feeling, more than any other film in this year's competition, of being uniquely and authentically Portuguese."
O filme retrata um casal que cultiva um aparentemente infértil. Um dia, encontram na terra uma semente negra que virá a crescer e a tornar-se uma estranha influência nos seus comportamentos.
